Minhaj-ul-Quran International UK (MQI UK) is a dynamic Islamic charity committed to promoting peace, social cohesion, and integration within British society. From our head office in Forest Gate, London, we run ten UK centres and partner with the wider global movement to deliver education, community programmes, and welfare.

Rooted in the principles of compassion, moderation, and education, we inspire positive change through dialogue, understanding, and active citizenship across British Muslim communities and beyond.

The Global Movement

Minhaj-ul-Quran International

Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI), founded by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, is a global non-governmental organisation headquartered in Lahore, Pakistan. Established on 17 October 1980, MQI has expanded to over 90 countries, promoting peace, tolerance, interfaith harmony, and education.

The organisation is dedicated to combating extremism and terrorism, guiding young Muslims towards religious moderation, advocating for women's rights and empowerment, and upholding human rights.

MQI seeks to bring about comprehensive change by reviving moral and spiritual values, striving to elevate the status of communities at large through continuous efforts grounded in the universal principles of love, peace, and knowledge as taught by the Holy Prophet ﷺ.

MQI in Britain

Established in the UK in 1986

MQI UK has been at the forefront of providing traditional Islamic knowledge while ensuring its relevance to contemporary challenges. We blend classical scholarship with the realities of life in modern Britain.

Today the British movement runs nine centres from Crawley in the south to Dundee in Scotland, four community forums, four flagship projects, and a year-round programme of conferences, retreats, and weekly classes that reach tens of thousands of people.

Our work continues to shape a positive and dynamic Muslim identity in Britain. Through a balanced and inclusive approach, we empower individuals of all ages and backgrounds to live faithful, meaningful, and socially responsible lives.

Scholarly contributions

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has authored over 1,000 books, with 430 published in multiple languages including English, Arabic, German, Danish, and Korean.

8 Volumes

Quranic Encyclopaedia

A landmark 8-volume Quranic Encyclopaedia providing thematic guidance from the Holy Quran on every aspect of contemporary life.

2010 Landmark

Fatwa against Terrorism

A landmark scholarly ruling by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri rejecting all forms of terrorism and extremism, widely cited around the world.

A registered charity, accountable to the communities we serve.

Minhaj-ul-Quran International UK is a registered charity in England & Wales (no. 1102801) and Scotland (no. SC045860). Our trustees are responsible for the overall governance, strategic direction, and financial oversight of the charity.

We publish our annual report and accounts each year on the Charity Commission register and on our own site. The trustees meet quarterly, and our centre management committees feed into the national governance structure throughout the year.
