About the role

As Minister of Religion at MQI Manchester, you will be the senior religious and spiritual leader for the centre, leading the daily five prayers, delivering the Friday khutbah, and overseeing the religious life of the community. The role combines imamate duties with teaching, pastoral care, and community engagement, working closely with the centre management committee and the Midlands Zone leadership.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the daily five prayers and the Friday Jumma prayer at Jamia Masjid Minhaj Manchester.
  • Deliver the weekly Friday khutbah in English and Urdu, alongside occasional Arabic readings.
  • Teach weekly Quran tafsir, hadith, and fiqh classes for adults and youth.
  • Provide pastoral support, counselling, and religious guidance to community members.
  • Officiate at nikahs, janaza prayers, and other religious ceremonies.
  • Mentor the local MMG and Minhaj Sisters teams on religious matters.
  • Represent MQI Manchester at interfaith forums, civic events, and chaplaincy work.
  • Contribute to the wider MQI UK programme of conferences, retreats, and the Sirah series.

About you

  • Formal Islamic scholarship qualification (Alim / Shahada al-Alimiyya or equivalent) from a recognised institution.
  • Hafiz of the Quran preferred but not essential.
  • Fluent in English and Urdu, with working knowledge of classical Arabic.
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to MQI's teachings under Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
  • Prior experience as an imam or teacher in a UK or international setting.
  • Excellent communication skills for sermons, classes, and pastoral conversations.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to support other UK centres.

About the role

The Administrator is the operational heart of our Crawley centre. You will keep the office running, support the local management team, coordinate events and classes, manage member and volunteer records, and act as the welcoming first point of contact for visitors, members, and the local community. This is a hands-on, varied role for someone who enjoys working with people and getting things done.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate member records, attendance logs, and volunteer rotas in our centre management system.
  • Coordinate weekly classes, halaqahs, and events: bookings, room setup, communications to attendees.
  • Handle the centre inbox, phone, and front-desk visitors, responding promptly and professionally.
  • Manage routine finance tasks: petty cash, invoice processing, expense reimbursements, weekly banking.
  • Order supplies, manage suppliers, and keep the building running smoothly day-to-day.
  • Support the centre's contribution to UK-wide programmes (Al-Hidayah, Sirah series, etc.).
  • Help produce internal reports for the centre management committee and the head office.
  • Champion safeguarding, GDPR, and health-and-safety routines.

About you

  • Two or more years in an administrative, office coordinator, or operations role.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident with Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace and comfortable learning new systems.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; additional Urdu, Arabic, or other community languages welcome.
  • Friendly, professional, and able to handle a varied workload with calm.
  • Sympathetic to MQI's mission and comfortable working in a faith-based environment.
  • Right to work in the UK. This role is not sponsored.
