Our Leadership

From our founder Shaykh-ul-Islam to the new generation of scholars carrying the message forward, and the MQI UK leadership serving the British community directly.

Global Leadership
Founder

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Founder, Minhaj-ul-Quran International

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri founded Minhaj-ul-Quran International in Lahore on 17 October 1980, with a mission of peace, classical Islamic knowledge, and service to humanity. Under his guidance the movement has grown to a presence in more than 90 countries.

A jurist and scholar with a written corpus of around one thousand works spanning Qur’anic sciences, hadith, fiqh, and spirituality, he is known worldwide for the 2010 Fatwa on Terrorism and Suicide Bombings, a 600-page refutation of extremism, and for the Peace for Humanity Conference at Wembley Arena in 2011.

His teaching continues to anchor the movement’s programmes in Britain, from the curriculum of Al-Minhaj Institute to the annual retreats and conferences hosted by our forums.
