A spiritually uplifting Suhbah gathering was held at Jamia Masjid Minhaj-ul-Quran Nelson in the blessed company of His Eminence Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. Families, elders, youth, and community members gathered for Zuhr salah, followed by a deep and pastoral Naseeha.
Shaykh-ul-Islam returned to a theme he has been developing across the UK tour: the urgent need to preserve Urdu as a living and functional language among British Muslim families. He called on parents, community leaders, and educational institutions to treat Urdu instruction as a serious duty and not an optional extra.
He explained that Urdu unlocks a body of Islamic scholarship, poetry, and pastoral wisdom that cannot be fully rendered into English. A generation that loses Urdu will not simply lose a language; it will lose the natural bridge to that heritage.
The Nelson community responded warmly. Local leadership committed to reviewing the centre's Urdu offering, expanding weekend classes, and coordinating with neighbouring centres in Bradford and Manchester on a shared curriculum.
